Bengaluru Airport Day Rooms and Hourly Stays: the 080 Transit Hotel, the Taj by the Hour and How Much Time You Need

A day room at Bengaluru Airport comes in one of three forms: an hourly block at the transit hotel inside Terminal 2, a night at the Taj on the airport campus that you use for eight hours, or a cab to a Devanahalli hotel that makes sense only when the gap is long. The 080 Transit Hotel sells 4, 8 and 12-hour blocks at any hour, the Taj Bangalore is 300 metres from Terminal 1 with a shuttle on request to Terminal 2, and the Bloom and the Moxy are 10 to 20 minutes away by cab. Below is each option and, more usefully, how many hours between flights each one needs. Verified September 2026.

The 080 Transit Hotel, by the hour

The 080 Transit Hotel is on the arrivals level of Terminal 2, 100 metres from the baggage belts, with 29 windowless rooms, private showers, a restaurant and a 24-hour desk. It sells a day window from 6 am to 6 pm and a night window from 6 pm to 6 am in blocks of 4 and 8 hours, plus a 12-hour same-day package with breakfast. Four hours is the minimum. Pricing is dynamic and recent guests report around 8,000 rupees for four hours with extra hours at roughly 1,000 each, so an eight-hour block is close to a night at the Taj. What you buy is time: no cab, no forecourt, and a lift opposite the entrance up to departures. It is on the public side of the terminal, so international arrivals do immigration and customs first.

The Taj Bangalore, by the night

The Taj Bangalore does not publish an hourly rate, but its night is the best long day room at the airport: 300 metres from Terminal 1, 2.1 km from Terminal 2 with a shuttle on request, check-in from 2 pm and check-out at noon with early and late arrangements on request, a pool, a spa, a 24-hour gym and three restaurants. For a gap of eight hours or more, particularly overnight, a night here costs roughly what the transit hotel charges for eight hours and gives you a real hotel. Ask for early check-in or late check-out when you book if your window falls outside 2 pm to noon; the hotel says it will try, subject to availability.

Devanahalli hotels for a long gap

The Bloom Hotel, 5 km away, and the Moxy, 9 km away, are night hotels. Both occasionally sell day-use slots through Indian hourly-booking apps, but not consistently, and the cab in each direction, 10 to 20 minutes plus waiting time, eats an hour of the gap. They make sense for nine hours or more, for a night between a late arrival and a next-morning flight, or when a family wants a pool and a lawn rather than a corridor. The Bloom’s night is the cheapest bed in this guide, cab included.

How many hours you need

For a domestic-to-domestic connection on separate tickets: collect bags, walk to the transit hotel, and be back at check-in 90 minutes before departure; a five-hour gap gives you four hours in the room. For an international arrival, immigration and customs take 30 to 90 minutes depending on the bank of flights, and the two terminals have no airside link, so if your next flight is from Terminal 1 add the shuttle. For an international departure, come back three hours before the flight: a seven-hour gap gives you three to four hours at the transit hotel, an eight-hour gap gives you a short night at the Taj, and nine hours or more opens up Devanahalli. Overnight, a 1 am international arrival with a 9 am domestic departure is six hours at the transit hotel or five at the Taj, either of which beats the benches. The terminal guide has the connection times in detail.

Lounges and pods for under four hours

If the gap is under four hours, stay airside. The lounges guide covers the 080 lounges in both terminals, their three-hour entry, showers at Terminal 2 and the nap rooms in the 080 International Lounge, which are the only beds in the sterile area and the only option for transit passengers without an Indian visa. Sleep pods near the Terminal 2 international gates come and go; ask at the information desk after security.

Tips

Book the transit hotel in advance for the late-night international bank, when its 29 rooms fill. Tell the Taj your flight times when you book so they can hold a room for an early check-in. Keep your onward boarding pass on your phone; you will show it at the hotel entrance, at the terminal door and at security. And when the arithmetic is close, choose the option on your side of the shuttle: the sleeping in the airport guide covers what happens if you decide to save the money.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I book a room at Bengaluru Airport for a few hours?

Yes. The 080 Transit Hotel inside Terminal 2 sells rooms in 4, 8 and 12-hour blocks, 24 hours a day, with a four-hour minimum. The other hotels in this guide sell nights; the Bloom and the Moxy sometimes appear on Indian hourly-booking apps, but not reliably, and the Taj is booked by the night.

How long a layover do I need for a day room at Bengaluru?

For the 080 Transit Hotel on a domestic connection, five hours is enough: four in the room, an hour for the walk and re-check-in. For an international arrival add 30 to 60 minutes for immigration, and for an international departure come back three hours before the flight, so the transit hotel needs seven hours and the Taj eight. A Devanahalli hotel needs nine hours or more.

Is the transit hotel or the Taj Bangalore cheaper for a layover?

For four to six hours the transit hotel, because you pay for the block and nothing else. For eight hours or more the Taj Bangalore usually costs the same or less for a full night, and you get a window, a pool and restaurants; for a family it is the better deal at any length over six hours.

Are there day rooms for international transit passengers who cannot enter India?

Not as rooms. The 080 Transit Hotel is on the public side of Terminal 2, so it needs immigration. Airside, the 080 International Lounge has nap rooms with daybeds in its three-hour entry, and that is the only bed in the sterile area.
